Vulcan Fryer Error Code Solutions

A broken unit can be bad for business. Fortunately, some Vulcan models display error messages that make identifying the problem as easy as possible. We have a list of standard Vulcan fryer error codes, so you know what’s happening. Below are common error messages displayed on VK and TR fryers as well as ERD/ERC electric and GRD/GRC gas models.

No or Low Gas Supply

A message will display when there is no or low gas supply. After 90 seconds of inactivity, the unit will disable the heat demand, cancel running cooking cycles and sound an alarm continuously.

Error Message:

  • VK and TR models w/ Solid State Controls – IGNITION LOCKOUT
  • VK and TR models w/ Computer Controls – IGNITION   LOCKOUT CHECK GAS SUPPLY

High Temperature 

Whenever the temperature reaches 415°F or more, the unit will shut down the heat demand, cancel running cooking cycles and disable the operator buttons. Overheating could be caused by a tripped high limit or issues with temperature probe, which should be resolved by an authorized technician.

Error Message:

  • VK and TR models w/ Solid State Controls – HIGH TEMP
  • VK and TR models w/ Computer Controls – HIGH TMP    HIGH TMP
  • ERD and GRD models – Hi
  • ERC and GRC models – SHORTED PROBE

Open Probe

When there is an open probe, your unit will disable the heat demand and operator buttons. It also will cancel cooking cycles that are running. A continuous alarm will sound until the issues is resolved or the fryer is turned off and back on. If the problem continues, contact an authorized technician.

Error Message:

  • VK and TR models w/ Solid State Controls – OPEN PROBE
  • VK and TR models w/ Computer Controls – PROBE     OPEN
  • ERD and GRD models – Prob
  • ERC and GRC models – OPEN PROBE

Shorted Probe

When there is a shorted probe in your unit, the heat demand and operator buttons will be disabled and running cooking cycles will be cancelled. Like an open probe, an alarm will sound continuously until the issues is fixed or the fryer is turned off and back on. If the issue persists, an authorized technician.
