Hood Lamp Replacement
How to Change the Hood Lamp ? In addition to all the reasons regular household bulbs fail, hood bulbs are also much more susceptible to moisture getting in and causing damage. A Stepwise Guide on How to Change Light Bulb on Range Hood
Determine the Type of Bulb You Need to Replace
A few different bulbs can be used in range hoods: incandescent, halogen, and LEDs. To determine which kind of bulb you need to replace, look at the specifications sticker on the back of the range hood. The sticker will list the recommended bulb type for use in the range hood.
Disconnect Power to the Range Hood by Shutting Off the Breaker.
If you are unsure which breaker is for your range hood, it is best to shut off all of the breakers in your home until you can determine which one is for the range hood. Once you have identified the breaker for the range hood, flip it off and wait a few minutes for the power to be completely disconnected.
Remove the Light Cover by Unscrewing It.
There should be a few screws on the light cover that must be removed to take it off. Be sure to keep track of these screws to be put back in place once the new light bulb has been installed.
Remove the Old Light Bulb.
Carefully remove the old light bulb. If it is difficult to remove, you may need to use a pair of pliers. Be sure to avoid touching the glass with your hands. Discard the old light bulb in a safe place.
Check the Power Cord
Before installing the new light bulb, it is essential to check the power cord. The power cord should be in good condition, and there should not be any damage to it. If the power cord is damaged, it will need to be replaced before installing the new light bulb.
Clean Up the Area
Once the old light bulb has been removed, it is essential to clean up the area. There should be no glass or metal fragments from the old light bulb. If there are any fragments, carefully pick them up using a pair of gloves or a paper towel.
Install the New Light Bulb.
The new light bulb will come with a few instructions on installing it. Generally, the new bulb can be installed by screwing it into the socket removed in step 4. Be sure to check that the polarity of the bulb is correct before screwing it in. The two metal contacts on the bulb’s base should be aligned with the two metal contacts on the socket. If they are not aligned, rotate the bulb until they are.
Replace the Light Cover and Screws.
Once the new light bulb is installed, replace the light cover by screwing it back in place. Be sure to put the screws back in the same place before.
Reconnect Power to the Range Hood by Flipping on the Breaker.
Once all the steps have been completed, reconnect power to the range hood by flipping on the breaker. Test to make sure that the new light bulb is working correctly. If it is not, refer to the instructions that came with the bulb for troubleshooting tips.
Inspect Your Work
Once you have replaced the light bulb, it is essential to inspect your work to make sure everything is done correctly. Be sure to check the screws on the light cover to ensure they are tight and that there is no damage to the power cord. If everything looks good, you’re done! Congratulations, you’ve successfully replaced the light bulb on your range hood! These steps will help change the light bulb on the range hood.
