Vacuum Cleaner Charging Problem ?

Vacuum Cleaner Charging Problem ? Robot vacuum cleaners don’t really need to be guided: they move around all by themselves as they carry out their mission of keeping your home clean! Stick vacuum cleaners, on the other hand, which are so handy and practical for small areas, do actually require your assistance. So what do these two types of vacuum cleaner have in common? They both operate without a cable, working instead from a battery you can recharge via a mains socket!

Why Doesn’t the Vacuum Cleaner Charge?

This becomes problematic when you suddenly find you can no longer charge your robot or stick vacuum cleaner… What causes this problem? In this article, you’re going to learn why your stick or robot vacuum cleaner is no longer charging.

A Power Outage

An obvious possible cause perhaps, but one we sometimes forget to consider: an electrical supply fault may be the reason why your stick or robot vacuum cleaner is failing to charge. Whether it’s a general power cut or simply a fault with the circuit into which the vacuum cleaner’s charger is plugged, the result will be the same: the appliance will no longer charge. If the issue is a general power cut, simple wait for the supply to be restored. If the issue is just with the circuit into which the charger is plugged, it’s likely the circuit breaker or fuse on that circuit has tripped. After first unplugging or simply turning off the other appliances plugged into the same circuit, reset the circuit breaker or change the fuse to get your vacuum cleaner charging again.

The charging connector is faulty

A faulty charging connector could be causing the issue with your stick or robot vacuum cleaner. The charging connector is the component on the appliance that enables the vacuum cleaner to be connected to the charger. If there is a fault with this charging connector, it will prevent the electricity reaching your appliance’s battery. The problem might simply lie with the charging connector’s connection points or with the charging connector itself. We recommend first cleaning its connection points using a spray specially designed for cleaning electrical components. Next, test the charging connector with a multimeter. To do this, plug it into the mains and make sure it’s in charging mode. Put your multimeter in voltmeter mode and place its probes on the charger’s connection terminals. You should get a reading. If this is not the case, you will need to replace the defective component.

The charger is faulty

The third possible reason for your charging issues is that the charger itself is faulty. The problem with it may be located in any of several different places. If it’s simply that its power supply cable is faulty (damaged, melted, snapped, etc), you will need to replace it. Identifying issues with other parts of the charger is more problematic, making it necessary and advisable to replace the entire charger to get your appliance charging again under such circumstances.

A problem with a battery

If your stick or robot vacuum cleaner is failing to charge, the cause of the problem will very often turn out to be a faulty battery. In most cases, the battery will have stopped working due to it being used incorrectly at the start: – it was not charged for long enough the first time (at least 12 hours without interruption) and the appliance was not allowed to drain completely after this. – the battery is being charged too frequently, without really requiring it. This has the effect of reducing its lifespan. These kinds of batteries are very likely to deteriorate prematurely if the appliance is permanently or very often left on its charging base when not in use.

DID YOU KNOW? If your robot vacuum cleaner is not cleaned regularly and dirt is allowed to accumulate inside, the motor will have to work harder to operate and the battery will become weak and lose its efficiency. The battery of a robot vacuum cleaner is designed to last several years when properly maintained!
