If an issue ever pops up out of the blue, identifying it quickly is crucial. Below are Moffat oven troubleshooting tips for select convection E20 and E30 series convection units.
Moffat Oven Troubleshooting Solutions
Oven Won’t Start, Run or Heat
- Power switch is off – If the switch is off, you’ll see a “0.” Flip the switch on so you see an “|.”
- Power switch is broken – Have the switch replaced by an authorized technician.
- Oven circuit breaker tripped – Reset the unit’s circuit breaker. If the issue persists, contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
- Power is off from external electrical sources – See if the isolating switch, circuit breaker or fuses are off. Reset or flip switches on.
- Door is open – On select units, such as E20M series ovens, the unit won’t run if the door is cracked open. Make sure it’s sealed shut. If the door still won’t close, contact an authorized technician to check for other issues and remedy.
- Door switch is broken – Contact an authorized technician to repair or replace the door switch.
- Over-temperature control tripped – Reset the control. If the issue persists, contact an authorized technician to remedy it.
Fan Won’t Run
- Door is open – See if the door is cracked open. If so, make sure it’s sealed shut. If the door still won’t close, contact an authorized technician to check for other issues and remedy.
- Door microswitch is out of adjustment or broken – Have the microswitch adjusted or replaced by an authorized technician.
- Fan motor is obstruction or broken – With the unit off, clear any obstruction in or near the motor. If there are no obstructions, contact an authorized technician to repair the fan motor.
- Fan motor timer or contactors are broken – Have both components checked and replaced by an authorized technician.
Oven Light Won’t Illuminate
See if the bulb inside the oven cavity is out. Replace using an OEM Moffat light bulb.
Door is Too Hot
If the oven door is too hot to touch, the inner glass is incorrectly fitted. Have this corrected by an authorized technician.
Uneven Cooking
- Selected temperature is too high – Choose a lower temperature setting.
- Overloaded oven – The oven is loaded with too much food. Reload it with less product.
- Oven or racks inside aren’t level – See if the oven unit or the racks inside aren’t level. Adjust if necessary.
- Air space around the trays is insufficient – Check if the racks are spaced properly to ensure proper air flow during baking.
- Door is open – See if the door is cracked open. If so, make sure it’s sealed shut. If the door still won’t close, contact an authorized technician to check for other issues and remedy.
- Door seal is damaged – Have an authorized technician to replace the door seal.
- Oven vent is restricted – Check is the area around the oven vent is blocked. Remove any blockage preventing air flow.
No Steam or Water Injection
(E32 & E35 models only)
- Water isn’t on – Check the water supply source and make sure it’s turned on.
- Obstructed water nozzle – Remove the nozzle and clean it. If there are signs or wear or damage, have it replaced by an authorized technician.
- Broken water/check valve – If the valve is faulty, contact an authorized technician to repair the issue.
- Obstructed water solenoid filter – Replace or clean the filter.
- Broken steam switch – Have the component replaced by an authorized technician.
- Broken timer – Contact an authorized technician to adjust or replace the timer.
