Maytag Dishwasher Error Code Solutions

Error Codes	Solution
00	Beginning of Error Display Mode. If only this symbol is displayed, the controller did not detect any errors. None required, all is working property.
F0	Control Board Error. An error with the controller has been sensed. Control board door circuit does not appear to be operating properly, check control board.
F1	Motor Fault – Motor current not changing. An error with the motor has been sensed. Check wiring to motor from control board. Check for bad motor.
F2	Heater Fault – heater current not changing. An error with the heater has been sensed. Check wiring to heater from control board. Check for bad heater, open high limit thermostat.
F3	High Current Error. An error has been sensed with the electrical current within the machine. The current is higher than normal. This error is probably caused by the heater or motor being energized when they should not be. This could be due to faulty wiring (shorts) or a welded relay. This error could also be caused by line current surges seen by the current sensor.
F4	Detergent Fault – No conductivity change. No detergent has been detected in the main wash for 10 cycles. Either the consumer is not using detergent in the main wash or an error with the detergent cup may be present. Check that consumer is using detergent in the main cup. Check the detergent cup wax motor and the wiring to and from the wax motor.
F5	Rinse Aid Fault. An error with the rinse aid dispensing has been sensed. This may be shown after the RS functional test If the Rinse Aid does not go from fall to low. Check connector from control board to rinse dispenser. Check for bad rinse aid dispenser.
F7	Turbidity Senior Fault. An error with the turbidity sensor has been tensed. A bad turbidity sensor reading has occurred. Check connections to Wash Process Sensor from control board. Also check for properly operating Wash Process Sensor. Finally check control board.
F8	Wash Ann Fault. An error with the wash arm rotation system has been sensed. A bad washer arm reading has occurred. Check connections to Wash Process Sensor from control board. Check pump for the correct back wash arms and alignment of sensor. Check for properly operating wash process sensor. Finally check control board.
F9	Thermistor Fault. An error with the thermistor has been sensed. A bad temperature sensor reading has occurred. Check connections to Wash Process Sensor from control board. Also check for properly operating Wash Process Sensor. Finally check control board.
1F0	Washer Arm Senior Error. An error has been detected sensing the wash arm rotation. Five cycles in a row have concluded with a blocked wash arm present A reset of the fault codes is necessary to dear this fault. Check magnet In back rinse arms in pump. Check for operational sensor cluster. Check user loading pattern.
1F1	Conductivity Fault. An error with the conductivity sensor has been sensed. A bad conductivity sensor reading has occurred. Check connections to Wash Process Sensor from control board. Also check for properly operating Wash Process Sensor. Finally check control board.
1F2	High Limit Thermostat. A temperature above 155 has been detected and the heater will still turn on. Check the high limit thermostat for operation.
1F3	Communication Problem. Control and sensor pack communications is not operating properly. A bad communication to the sensor has occurred. Check connections to Wash Process Sensor from control board. Also check for properly operating Wash Process Sensor. Finally check control board.
1F4	Cold Water Problem. Water below 90* is being detected at the temperature sensor of the dishwasher from the inlet valve. Check with the consumer to make sure the inlet water temperature Is near 120* F. If necessary suggest that the kitchen faucet be started before the cycle is to get hotter water to the dishwasher from the start.
1F5	Current Sensor Bad. The controller has sensed that the current sensor is not changing with any loads in the machine. A bad current sensor on the control board has been detected. Check to make sure connections to board are correct and the black power line Is properly connected to the VS’ spade terminal on the board.
1F6	Relay current failure – Should be seen only at board manuf. This failure indicates that the current sensor did not read a change in loads during board manuf. Functional test while the first relay was actuated. Show only in boards manuf. functional test mode.
1F7	Model switch failure – Should be seen only at board manuf. This failure is given if the model switch does not get changed from ja to maytag during the board manuf. functional test. Show only in board manuf. functional test mode. Should not occur in manual function mode or functional test mode.
1-1	Stuck relay on the electronic control board. Shut off power to the dishwasher for 5 minutes.
1-2	All the LED’s are on because the user interface control is incompatible with the electronic control board. The code appears when you install the wrong user interface control.
2-1	Stuck button on the user interface control. Check all buttons on the user interface control for a response.
3-1	Thermistor/OWI sensor failure. Unplug the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power and then check the wiring between the electronic control board and the thermistor/OWI sensor.
3-2	Shorted thermistor/OWI sensor. Unplug the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power and then check the wiring between the electronic control board and the thermistor/OWI sensor.
3-3	OWI failed to calibrate or the drain hose check valve failed, allowing dirty water to backflow into the dishwasher. Disconnect the dishwasher drain hose connection from the air gap or the garbage disposal if you have no air gap.
4-3	Communication error between the electronic control board and the circulation pump motor. Unplug the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power.
5-1	Door switch failure. This code appears if you don’t close the door within 4 seconds of pressing the Start/Resume button, or if the door latch assembly is broken.
5-2	Control detects door not opening. The electronic control board expects to see the door open between cycles or the dishwasher won’t start the next time you try to start a new cycle.
6-1	Won’t fill. Check for an item stuck under the overfill float and remove it. If the overfill float sticks in the “up” position the dishwasher won’t fill.
6-2	Water inlet valve failure. Unplug the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power.
6-3	Suds or air are in the water pump. Check for sudsy water.
6-4	The float switch is open. Check the overfill float switch to see if it’s stuck or if an item is stuck under it.
6-6	Incoming water is too cold. Use an accurate thermometer to check the water temperature.
6-7	Disconnected or damaged flow meter. Shut off power to the dishwasher.
6-8	Problem with water softener regeneration valve (Water Softener Models Only). Shut off power to the dishwasher.
7-1	Heating element doesn’t work. Shut off power to the dishwasher.
7-2	Heating element won’t shut off. Shut off power to the dishwasher for 5 minutes.
8-1	Slow drain. Shut off power to the dishwasher and then shut off water.
8-2	Drain pump electrical problem. Shut off power to the dishwasher and then shut off water.
8-3	Drain pump stuck on. Shut off power to the dishwasher and check the drain pump wiring.
10-1	Detergent dispenser failure. Unplug the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power.
10-3	Drying fan failure. Unplug the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power.

Problem: Dishwasher Does Not Run

Solution: NOTE: It is normal for the dishwasher to repeatedly pause several times during a cycle. If the START/RESUME light is blinking, press START/RESUME and close the door firmly within 4 seconds. Press and hold HI TEMP WASH for 3 seconds to turn the audible tones on or off. Be sure the door is closed and latched. Be sure you have selected a cycle. See “Cycles and Options Descriptions.” Be sure there is power to the dishwasher. A circuit breaker or fuse might have tripped. If lights other than Start/Resume blink and the unit will not run, you will need to call for service.

Problem: Detergent Remains In The Dispenser Or Tablet Is On Bottom Of Tub

Solution: Check for dishware such as cookie sheets, cutting boards, or large containers, etc., that may be blocking the detergent dispenser from opening properly. Be sure the detergent is fresh and lump free. Be sure the cycle has been completed (green light is on). If it has not been completed, you will need to resume the cycle by pressing START/RESUME and closing the door within 4 seconds.

Problem: Cycle Runs Too Long

Solution: NOTES:

• Efficient dishwashers run longer to save water and energy. Cycle times may increase depending on selections (See “Cycles and Options Descriptions” for estimated cycle times.)
• A water heater setting of 120°F (49ºC) is best. The dishwasher will delay longer while heating cooler water. Try the Quick Wash cycle. Run the hot water at a faucet close to the dishwasher before starting the cycle.

Problem: Dishwasher Not Drying

Solution: NOTE: Plastic and items with nonstick surfaces are difficult to dry because they have a porous surface, which tends to collect water droplets. Towel drying may be necessary. Use of rinse aid along with the Heated Dry and Sanitize option will provide the best drying and avoid excess moisture in the dishwasher interior. Proper loading of items can affect drying. (See specific loading instructions within this guide.) Glasses and cups with concave bottoms hold water. This water may spill onto other items when unloading.

• Unload the bottom rack first.
• Place these items on the more slanted side of the rack for improved results.

Problem: Will Not Fill

Solution: Be sure the water is turned on to the dishwasher. Check that the float is free from obstructions. Check for suds in the dishwasher. If foam or suds are detected, the dishwasher may not operate properly or may not fill with water.

Problem: Water Remains In The Tub/ Will Not Drain

Solution: Be sure the cycle has been completed (the green light is on). If the cycle has not been completed, you will need to resume the cycle by pressing START/RESUME and closing the door within 4 seconds. If dishwasher is connected to a food waste disposer, be sure the knockout plug has been removed from the disposer inlet. Check for kinks in the drain hose. Check for food obstructions in the drain or garbage disposer. Check the house fuse or circuit breaker.

Problem: Hard Water

Solution: NOTE: Extremely hard water mineral deposits can cause damage to the dishwasher and make it difficult to achieve good cleaning. A water softener is strongly recommended if the hardness is 15 grains or more. If a water softener is not installed, the following steps may help: Use a commercial cleaner designed for dishwashers once per month. Always use a rinse aid. Always use a high-quality, fresh detergent. Use a detergent booster/water softener additive designed for dishwashers.

Problem: Odors

Solution: Run a vinegar rinse through the dishwasher by putting 2 cups (500 mL) of white vinegar in an upright glass measuring cup in the lower rack. Run a normal cycle with the Heated Dry option turned off. Do not use detergent.

Problem: Noisy

Solution:

• Surging sounds can occur periodically throughout the cycle while the dishwasher is draining.
• Normal water valve hissing may be heard periodically.
• A normal snap sound may be heard when the detergent dispenser opens during the cycle and when the door is opened at the end of the cycle.
• Improper installation will affect noise levels. Be sure the filters are properly installed.

A thumping sound may be heard if items extend beyond the racks and interfere with the wash arms. Readjust the dishware and resume the cycle.

Problem: Food Soils Remain On Dishes

Solution: Be sure the dishwasher is loaded correctly. Improper loading can greatly decrease the washing performance. See “Prepare and Load the Dishwasher” in the “Dishwasher Use” section. Select the proper cycle and option for the type of soils. PowerBlast™ with the Sanitize option can be used for tougher loads. Be sure the incoming water temperature is at least 120°F (49ºC). Use the proper amount of fresh detergent. More detergent is needed for heavier-soiled loads and hard water conditions. Scrape food from dishes prior to loading (do not prerinse).

Problem: Did Not Sanitize

Solution: If the sanitized light is blinking, the load is NOT sanitized. The cycle was interrupted in the final rinse, or the water heater is set too low. Set the water heater to 120ºF (49ºC).

Problem: Damage To Dishware

Solution: Improper loading can cause dishes to become chipped or damaged. See specific loading instructions within this guide.

Problem: Blinking Lights

Solution: If the START/RESUME light is blinking, press START/RESUME and close the door within 4 seconds. If the Clean light or any other lights are blinking and the dishwasher will not run, call for service.
