Philips TV Error Codes The fault code buffer contains all detected errors since the last time the buffer was erased. The buffer is written from left to right, new errors are logged at the left side, and all other errors shift one position to the right. When an error has occurred, the error is added to the list of errors, provided the list is not full or the error is a protection error.
Philips Television Error Code Troubleshooting
When an error occurs and the error buffer is full, then the new error is not added, and the error buffer stays intact (history is maintained), except when the error is a protection error. To prevent that an occasional error stays in the list forever, the error is removed from the list after 50+ operation hours. When multiple errors occur (errors occurred within a short time span), there is a high probability that there is some relation between them.

Why my Philips TV won’t turn on – possible causes
Equipment has a certain lifespan. As soon as it comes to an end, users face problems. However, there are also unforeseen breakdowns, but they can be fixed under warranty, if, of course, it is still valid.
What to do if the Philips TV does not turn on? Do not rush to contact the service center, first you need to determine the cause of the malfunction. It is possible that you will be able to solve the problem yourself, saving on maintenance costs.
Consider the main causes of the malfunction. It is important to determine in a timely manner, after which a breakdown occurred. Based on this information, a follow-up plan is drawn up.
Power indicator is on
If the indicator is on, it means that voltage is applied to the microcircuit. Try turning on the TV using the remote control. No reaction? Press the “Power” button, it is located on the front panel, just below the screen.
Often the reason that the power indicator is on, but the Philips TV does not turn on, is a malfunction of the remote control. Such a breakdown can be eliminated without special equipment and at home:
- Open the back cover, under which the batteries are located and change them.
- Check the contacts in the battery compartment, oxidation may have occurred. Try cleaning the contacts by dampening the cotton with alcohol.
- Press all the buttons, perhaps they sink, stick. Disassemble the remote control, clean it from the inside with cotton soaked in alcohol.
- If moisture gets on the main chip of the remote control, wipe off any remaining liquid.
In some situations, the remote control cannot be repaired, so it must be replaced.
If there is no response to the remote control and buttons located on the front panel, and the power indicator is still on, one of the following methods solves the problem.
Control board repair
If the main chip or its components are broken, contact the service center. To disassemble the TV and repair the hardware module, you should use professional equipment that is not available to the average user. It is possible that the engineers will not repair the control board, but simply install a new part.
Activation of the protection system
Voltage fluctuations activate the equipment protection system. The TV will not respond to commands until the power outage is gone. If the problem is activation of the protection system, turn off the device for about 15 minutes. Then try turning it on. To avoid such problems, buy a voltage stabilizer. As a result, you will insure your equipment from expensive repairs.
Switching to standby mode
If the power indicator is on or flashing and the solutions listed above do not help, then the TV has entered standby mode. The malfunction occurs when the TV is connected to a computer, laptop and used as a screen. Just move your mouse or press any button on your keyboard and the image will appear. An alternative way is to disconnect the TV from the computer and select a different signal source.
Power indicator is off
When the light is off and the TV has stopped turning on, you need to check if voltage is being supplied to the microcircuit. In some situations, the failure can be very easily corrected. Before contacting the service center, you need to check some factors.
Start by checking the power to the mains. Take an indicator screwdriver or connect a working device to the outlet to check if there is voltage. You can also use a surge protector, voltage stabilizer. It is possible that the outlet to which the TV is connected is faulty.
It is possible that the TV does not turn on due to the fact that the power button is deactivated. Almost all Philips TV models have a button next to the LED on the front panel that allows you to turn off the screen. Try clicking on it, maybe the image will appear.
The third reason is that the device has gone into sleep mode. To exit the power saving mode, press the AV/TV button on the remote control.
If the above methods did not help and the problems of the LCD TV did not disappear, contact the service center. The power light may not be lit due to system board components failure. In this case, a complete diagnosis with disassembly of the device is required.
The backlight is off
Turn on the TV and look closely at the screen. Is the image completely missing? Perhaps there is a picture, but it is very dim, dark or fuzzy? Try to shine on the screen with a regular flashlight. If the image appears, then the backlight of the Philips TV is not working. This symptom indicates a breakdown of the power microcircuit, the inverter. The LED backlight burns out much less often. Sometimes only some diodes do not work, for example, located in the corners.
The inverter is a component of the power board, which is supplied with a voltage of about 1000 V (this component ensures the correct operation of the screen backlight).
It is strictly forbidden to try to change or repair the inverter on your own. Contact the professionals. They determine the cause of a Philips TV malfunction, and then change the inverter or backlight.
TV makes strange noises
If strange sounds are heard, while the picture is not distorted and everything works correctly, then this indicates a poor-quality assembly of the device, probably the case creaks. When the TV turns on for a long time, randomly turns off and all this is accompanied by sound defects, you need to contact the service center. Such interference may occur due to incorrectly set settings, problems with the elements of the power system.
