Maytag Oven Error Codes Most oven error codes are specific to your oven’s make and model but there are some common codes that are commonly seen on most Maytag ovens. Maytag Oven Error Code Solutions

F0Function Key StuckThis code indicates that a key on the touch screen or control board stuck. To fix the error, try pressing the key to unstick it. If it continues to be an ongoing issue, you will have to replace the touch pad or touch pad/control board if they are one assembled unit.
F1Upper Runaway CookThe Maytag oven F1 error code indicates the touchpad or control board (clock) on your oven is faulty. Refer to your owner’s manual on how to test for a faulty touch pad and how to replace the touch pad, control board, or both.
F2Lower Runaway CookThe F2 code means your Maytag oven temperature is too hot when you set it on bake, broil, or clean. If you see this error, you will have to replace the relay board or oven temperature sensor. Your owner’s manual will tell you how to check the sensor harness when troubleshooting your Maytag oven error code.
F3/F4Runaway CleanBoth the Maytag oven F3 error code and F4 code indicate there is an issue with the temperature sensor so the cook mode on your oven will stop. Check the sensor to make sure it is closed and there are not issues with the wiring or connection first. If the temperature sensor is damaged or not working, replace it.
F5Keypad Cancel UpperThis oven error code is seen on electric ranges and indicates that the electronic range control board is faulty. This Maytag error code displays when the cook mode and non-cook mode start simultaneously. Repair or replace the electronic range control board to fix this code.
F6Keypad Cancel LowerThe AC line cycle sensor is absent. When this error code displays, your Maytag stove troubleshooting can correct this issue by turning your stove off for five minutes and then restarting your appliance.
F7Keypad DisconnectedThis Maytag oven error code means the function key on your touchpad is stuck or shorting out. Replace the touch pad to resolve this issue.
F8Keypad ShortageThis error codes indicates that the clock on your keypad is malfunctioning, possibly caused by moisture getting into the keypad. Replace the control board or electric range control (ERC).
F9Door LatchThis oven error code means the door latch is not work. It could be caused by a blockage in the latch or issues with the wiring or switches on the upper latch, lower latch, or both. If the latch needs to be replaced, do not turn on or use your oven until the latch is replaced. There are many door latch oven error codes which provide specific information where the fault is located. They are:

  • F9:-1 – Upper latch lock
  • F9:-2 – Latch unlock upper
  • F9:-3 – Latch lock both upper
  • F9:-4 – Latch lock lower
  • F9:-5 – Latch unlock lower
  • F9:-6 – Latch unlock, both lower

F1-1Temperature Error Code Double Range UpperThis code is commonly seen in double oven ranges and means the temperature is rising and getting too hot in your double oven range. Check the temperature sensor and replace is faulty.
F1-2Temperature Error Code Double Range LowerThis oven error code means the temperature on the lower range of your double range is getting too hot for the electric range control. Repair or replace the temperature sensor.
F1-3Open Oven Temperature Sensor Error CodeIf the open oven temperature sensor is not working you will have to replace it.
F1-4Oven Overheating Error CodeIf you see this Maytag oven error code, it means the oven is overheating. Turn your appliance off and check the temperature sensor. If the sensor is damaged, do not use your appliance until it has been replaced.
F1-5Keypad Cancel Issue Error Code UpperIf your keypad is not working on the upper range of a double range oven, your Maytag stove troubleshooting can be resolved by resetting the keypad. If that does not work, you will have to replace it.
F1-6Keypad Cancel Issue Error Code LowerThis oven error code has the same meaning as Error Code F1-5 but it means the keypad is not working on the lower range. Reset or replace the keypad.
F1-7Keypad Disconnection Error CodeIf the keypad is disconnected, check the wiring connecting the keypad with the electronic control range.
F1-8Keypad Shorting Error CodeIf your Maytag oven error code indicates your keypad is shoring, you will have to replace the keypad.

Display is Showing an Error Code for Maytag Oven or Range

If your appliance is showing an error code on the display, there may be a simple issue that you can resolve. Please see the chart below to locate the error code, along with information and possible resolution.  The Error Code may display in F# E# format or E# F# format.

Error Code/DisplayInformation and Resolution
F9 or F9 E0
  • The electrical outlet in the home or the electrical connection to the appliance may be miswired.
  • If your appliance was installed recently (within approximately 3 months), contact a qualified electrician to verify the electrical supply.
  • Unexpected power supply line “noise” during a power outage  that the control detected as incorrect voltage may cause the code to display.
  • If any keys were pressed before a 10 second delay during power up could cause the code to display.
  • Resolution: Reset Power.
“C”
  • Oven is displaying in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.
  • Resolution: Refer to your Owner’s Manual for specific  information on changing from Celsius to Farenheit.
  • The oven will not heat above 260 degrees on the display if in Celsius.
Clock is blank
  • Some models have a hidden feature which allows you the option to hide the time of day on the display window.
  • Resolution: Press and hold Clock Set/Start for five seconds(typical). This will time of day back to display. The time should not have to be reset.
  • Refer to your Owner’s Manual for specific  information.
“CAL”
  • Oven calibration feature – This function allows you to calibrate your oven.
  • Resolution: Refer to your Owner’s Manual for specific  information.
LOC, Lock, Locked
  • Control Lock has been activated.
  • Resolution:  Refer to your Owner’s Manual for specific  information
SAB, Sab, 5AB, or 5A6
  • Your product has the Sabbath Mode feature activated.
  • Resolution: Refer to your Owner’s Manual for specific  information on entering and exiting Sabbath Mode.
PF or PF id=27 or PF id=30
  • There has been a power failure.
  • Resolution: Press the cancel pad to clear the display. On some models you may need to reset the time of day clock.
Time of day is flashing
  • There has been a power failure.
  • Resolution: Press the cancel pad to clear the display. On some models you may need to reset time of day clock.

Resetting the Power

Some error codes can be removed or resolved by resetting power to the unit.

  1. Power the unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) or fuse(s) for one (1) minute
  2. Power the unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s) or fuses(s),
  3. Monitor the the product for one (1) minute to ensure the error code does not return.
